Renovation of a semi-detached house, Wiesbaden | Germany
The Wiesbaden interior designer Irene Maier from innenarchitektur im2 developed a new living concept for a family of five in a semi-detached house that is around 20 years old. Within only six months, the house was fully modernised, reorganised and creatively reduced to a clear, timeless line.
The reorganisation of the floor plan took centre stage in the planning. Through targeted alterations, bright, functional rooms were created with better usage of the existing spaces. The kitchen was turned round so that the daylight can be used optimally. The electrical distribution and water connections were reorganised for this purpose. A large chalkboard wall extends the kitchen area with a communicative and creative level for everyday family life.
The upper floor was also restructured. By putting up an additional drywall, three almost identical children's rooms have been created. In the attic, the interior architect planned a private retreat for the parents with their own dressing area and bathroom. Custom-made carpentry solutions ensure storage space, clear lines and an overall impression of calm throughout the house.
The design follows a minimised material and colour concept. Light and smoothly levelled lime plaster walls, matching tiles in all the bathrooms as well as individually made furniture create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. Existing elements such as mirrors were consciously integrated and combined with new materials. In keeping with the clear interior architecture, the planner decided on switches, sockets and room thermostats from the LS 990 range in white, often combined in practical multi-way strips.
A thoughtfully designed family house has thus been created which links functional requirements, high-quality materials and timeless interior design in a coherent overall concept.

LS 990 in white
Thanks to its high quality and clear shape, the LS 990 switch range has already proved its worth for about 50 years. The classic form of this switch with its narrow frame fits harmoniously into any surroundings. Purist elegance in thermosetting plastic or genuine metal lend this series a touch of class. A wide variety of applications are possible thanks to the wide functional spectrum. Thus, architecturally demanding visions can be consistently put into practice. The single to fivefold frames can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
