Vagabundo Tiny House

Comfortable living on a reduced area – elegant and multifunctional

The Tiny House by Vagabundo Living is a flexible reinterpretation of a small, mobile house for modern living on a reduced area. The architectural concept is characterised by a simple and minimalist design, high-quality equipment and maximum functionality. The technical equipment also follows the overriding concept of multifunctionality with a minimalist design. The simple design of the LS 990 switch range from JUNG in matt graphite black was chosen to match. Included in the range – elegant and multifunctional – is the LS 990 socket with integrated USB connections.

The Tiny House movement is a social and architectural phenomenon that has gained much momentum in recent years. Minimalist living in small spaces has gained popularity in response to growing awareness of environmental concerns, as a counter-reaction to mainstream consumerism and a desire for a simpler life. The three partners of Vagabundo LivingMichael Leitner, Luca Knipp and Andreas Müllner, who met while studying architecture and industrial engineering respectively, have with Vagabundo realised their personal ideal of the living of the future: minimalist and flexible, close to nature and not tied down to one place. Hence the name: "Vagabundo – the itinerant or vagrant, rich in freedom and therefore in leisure."

Flexible and mobile living
The Vagabundo House is available in three versions: as Vagabundo mini with just 15 sqm of living space for temporary living, for example as a vacation apartment; as Vagabundo comfort with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room on 34 sqm; and as Vagabundo flex with two full floors including a living area with a kitchen, sleeping and working area as well as a fully-equipped bathroom. Despite the reduced living space, both the comfort and flex models are designed as a permanent home, providing maximum comfort in a minimum area. Since October 2022, the Vagabundo flex show house has been open to visitors in Munich's Englischer Garten park. All the Vagabundo types can be transported by truck on an interchangeable chassis. 2.55 m wide, they are approved for normal road transport as cargo, reducing transport costs and allowing the houses to be mobile again within a few hours. For maximum mobility they are used on the transport frame; for longer use in one place, they can be placed on elevated supports or set down at ground level with a crane. The "flex" type is the largest and most versatile type of house in the Vagabundo series. An integrated lifting system allows a second floor to be extended upwards. This is retracted for transport so that the permissible transport height of 4 m is not exceeded. On site, the mobile house is connected to the local mains power and water supply networks. A technical room accessible from the outside bundles all necessary building services such as the fuse box, water supply and flow heater. The water connections and the power supply are also located below this technical room.

Elegant living space for alternative lifestyles
The interior design is characterised by a great deal of wood, carefully thought-out built-in furniture and simple lighting solutions. Oak parquet flooring, LED light strips and homely textiles ensure cosiness despite the reduced area. An open design and compact room layout create a spacious living feeling. A proximity to nature can be felt at all times, and the terraces create additional outdoor space. The high-quality technical equipment also follows the overriding concept of multifunctionality with a minimalist design, including the LS 990 socket from JUNG with integrated USB connections. All the kitchen and bathroom fixtures, as well as the light switches, are finished in matt black to contrast with the natural materials and light colours of the interior. The LS 990 switch range in matt graphite black blends perfectly into this simple design.

The decision to live in a Tiny House is driven by the desire to leave as small an environmental footprint as possible, as well as the opportunity to live a simple and minimalist lifestyle. While Tiny Houses are certainly not the right choice for everyone, they offer a compelling alternative to traditional housing types for those looking for something special.
