The hotel and apartment complex One53 in Hangzhou is the Chinese counterpart to the One57 skyscraper in New York. Like its American equivalent in the heart of Manhattan, One53 is also located in the wealthy centre of Hangzhou. The US American company BLD Design was responsible for the interior design and with that a global player in the field of hotel design. While One57 in New York is seen as a synonym for luxury living for western standards, One53 in Hangzhou is consciously conceived as the equivalent for luxury apartments in China. Where on the one side the New York bay gives rise to the Manhattan peninsular, here the international financial centre of Hangzhou and the Qiantang river surround the new city district Qianjiang CBD.
