B29 Apartment in Vilnius | Lithuania
This flat in a reconstructed building from the late 19th century combines historical substance with a clearly contemporary room design.
The interior designers from AKTA consciously decided against a stylistic approach to the existing building and developed instead an independent architectural language. The layout was reorganised to meet modern living requirements. Focal furnishings organise the main room and create symmetry. At its heart is a striking kitchen island made from red safety glass which is supplemented by a free-standing kitchen cabinet in brushed stainless steel. A turquoise-coloured functional core divides the apartment into sections and makes living areas and quiet areas available along the windows. A continuous floor of decorative concrete links all the rooms with an open, gallery-style look. White wall and ceiling surfaces let fragments of historical murals and stucco elements emerge. Artworks and selected vintage furniture items bring out specific features and give the interior added depth. The switches and sockets of the LS 990 range from JUNG in ivory and light grey blend seamlessly into the reduced colour and material palette and support the clear, geometric order of the room.
