Sixty years can be recounted in various ways. As the story of a product. As the story of a company. Or as the story of an idea. The story of JUNG’s LS range began in 1966 with a design that has lost none of its relevance to this day. Its true roots, however, go back further. LS did not arise from a desire for a new form, but from a design philosophy that has characterised JUNG since 1912: to develop solutions that work for the long term. The switch range is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The idea on which it is based is even older.

The LS range owes its development not only to the engineers in JUNG’s development department, but also to the ongoing dialogue with architects. New materials, functions and applications have repeatedly emerged from the specific requirements of practical planning. JUNG would like to thank everyone who has supported the LS range over the past 60 years with their projects, ideas and trust. Em 30 de junho de 1967, é registada a patente da conceção do sistema modular LS - um passo que é hoje considerado um marco na arquitetura dos comutadores. No entanto, na altura do pedido, não era possível prever a extensão da evolução deste princípio de conceção. A ideia de um design claramente estruturado e modular cria a base para uma arquitetura de sistema que combina liberdade de design com precisão técnica. O princípio de construção subjacente permite a separação consistente entre funcionamento e design. Esta abordagem aumenta a flexibilidade de planeamento e garante a continuidade do sistema a longo prazo.
Para os arquitectos, este princípio significa acima de tudo uma coisa: fiabilidade na conceção. O sistema modular LS é sinónimo de precisão dimensional, redução e linhas formais claras que podem ser integradas numa grande variedade de contextos arquitectónicos - desde edifícios existentes classificados a construções novas contemporâneas. O que começou como uma inovação de design em 1967 desenvolveu-se num conceito de sistema permanente. O pedido de patente marca, portanto, não só a origem de uma solução técnica, mas também o início de uma continuidade arquitetonicamente relevante que continua até hoje.
