Apartment building AM 41, Barcelona | Spain
In Barcelona, the interior designers from Intercon have transformed an old hospital into a modern apartment building. The grand, historic property from the end of the 19th century is situated on a corner plot in the centre of the famous district of Eixample. The address is Carrer d'Ausiàs Marc 41, which is reflected in today’s name AM 41.
The apartments are of different sizes between 64 and 232 m² and have one to three bedrooms. Many historic details of the architecture – such as the Catalan vaulted ceilings – were able to be retained in the conversion and were lavishly restored. On the other hand, the typical tiled floors of the region received a modern reinterpretation. A special detail of every apartment are the generously designed, open kitchens. Their succinct colour scheme is aligned to the famous colour keyboard of the architect Le Corbusier. For the visible electrical installation within the kitchen units, the planners therefore used the LS 990 range from JUNG in Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier. In this way, the switches and sockets could be matched to the respective kitchen colours.
The remaining living spaces are decorated in restrained colours. Tailor-made fitted cupboards and shelf units in light wood determine the room impression. The smart-home systems from JUNG installed in all apartments provide modern convenience. F 40 push-buttons, likewise in the LS 990 design, allow intelligent control of light scenes. Light switches and sockets are complemented with the use of room temperature controllers, USB and network sockets from the JUNG LS 990 range in white.
