Apartment in Antakalnis, Vilnius | Lithuania
In Antakalnis, a district in the north-east of the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, a modern, 130 m² private apartment has been built to the plans of the Plazma firm of architects. Rytis Mikulionis and Dalia Treinytė, who were responsible for the planning of the interior, describe their work as “warm minimalism”. Clearly divided rooms, seamless transitions, flush doors and fitted cupboards hidden behind wall-height panels dictate the form and appearance of the apartment. Even heating and air-conditioning were integrated out of sight in the suspended ceiling design. The gaze can glide freely across all surfaces. Nothing troubles the eye!
The minimalist interior concept is paired with a fine feeling for colour, materials and textiles. They prevent the strict form from tipping into the antiseptic. As a result, the wall colours – a soft grey on plaster surfaces coupled with a light pink tone for all fixtures – have a stimulatory effect. Coloured marble surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom in turn set strong accents, while curtains gently undermine the linearity of the architecture. Out of this interplay, a subtle elegance arises.
Fitting to the modern design, the clients relied on a contemporary smart-home solution for controlling and monitoring all room functions. For this, a KNX solution from JUNG was installed in the background. All rooms are equipped with F 40 push-buttons from the LS 990 design range, likewise from JUNG, which can be used to control the respective room climates, the lighting, the sound system and the curtains. By allocating multiple functions to the individual push-buttons, the rooms only need few visible control elements. Their design in the stainless steel and dark ranges – the latter in dark-lacquered aluminium – are tailored subtly to the respective room situation and thus supports the minimalist overall concept. In addition, in the living room a central touch screen was installed with the JUNG Smart Control 7, from where the whole KNX system can be accessed.
