BRIGHTEN Hannam, Seoul | South Korea

BRIGHTEN Hannam is in Hannam-dong, one of the most exclusive districts of Seoul, which is often called the "Beverly Hills of Korea". With its first-class location between the River Han and the Namsan mountain, the project offers a modern interpretation of luxury living. It is not only the varied cultural life, the international gastronomy and the lively art scene that make the location a place to be - from the perspective of the traditional Feng Shui, the location of the BRIGHTEN Hannam housing complex is also ideal.

The 16-story building with a total of 142 high-quality apartments and communal areas was developed by Urban Agency architects for the South Korean property company, Shin Young, who with this project have already built the third building in their signature range BRIGHTEN. The facade of the building is characterised by offset volumes that maximise the incidence of daylight and provide unique views of the historical surrounds of the city and the nearby river for the residents. The vertical shapes enable the integration of separate balconies that extend the living space outwards and offer direct access to nature. The concept of Brighten Hannam creates space for the individual needs and wishes of the residents with flexible floor plans and a clever enfilade architecture. The connecting access balconies are given the character of the living spaces and create an impressive feeling of depth. At the same time, this spatial design enables the necessary structural modification from an open, impressive spatial flow to private relaxation areas. The play of the soft light on the robust material palette of the interiors, which largely consist of wood and stone, creates a peaceful and snug living atmosphere that is timeless in its expression. Based on the principle of biophilic design, so-called biophilic cubes are integrated - adaptable spaces that are filled with natural light and green and that allow the residents to create their own personal oasis. Additional green areas are created for the residents in the seasonally planted roof garden.

Technological innovation plays a decisive role for the living experience in BRIGHTEN Hannam. To achieve this, the most modern building technology from JUNG has been used, which improves both the appearance and convenience. Switches and sockets from the LS 990 range in matt graphite black are used specifically in their elegance as a stylistic device in the minimalistic interior. Furthermore, the property is equipped with KNX F 10 and F 40 push-buttons, which were conceived for the integration of advanced building automation technologies. While the F 10 push-buttons ensure seamless control of various functions, the F 40 push-buttons combine multiple functions, such as lighting and temperature control, into one, individual user interface and thus provide a high degree of user convenience.
