Kirchenzentrum, Poing | Germany
The Kirchenzentrum Seliger Pater Rupert Mayer (the Blessed Rupert Mayer Church Centre) is located in the district of Poing, north-east of Munich in Bavaria. The team from meck architekten won first prize in the architecture competition and, with this, gained approval for the project. As a visible sign for Christians, the new parish church was to be integrated into the planning for the new town centre in Poing.
The church was consecrated by Archbishop Reinhard Kardinal Marx in June 2018. The church centre now radiates light with 15,000 white, three-dimensional ceramic tiles and appears like a crystal in the landscape. A base of thick slabs of masonry from the Nagelfluh mountains forms the foundation of the church. With its sculptural form, the church dominates the urban planning of the town and is known as the “ski-jump of god”. Three large windows light up the space in the interior of the church to symbolise the Trinity. A stone floor and wall base also feature in its interior. In contrast, the white crown of the ceiling gives height to the space – a differentiation that embodies the idea of heaven and earth. The oak church benches are arranged around the altar. A lake situated next to the church provides a visual connection to baptism and adds a final touch to its surrounding area.
The Church Centre is equipped with smart KNX technology from JUNG. Lights, blinds and temperature are controlled intuitively. The electrical installation in the LS 990 design in antique brass integrates harmoniously with the overall design of the church.

LS 990 in Antique brass
A prestigious interior derives its appeal from exclusive effects. The design switches in high-grade metal versions satisfy this standard outstandingly well. Cool stainless steel, aluminium or attractive anthracite, chrome or precious gold plating – they lend a special touch wherever the emphasis is on the extra-special. Two variations of genuine brass complement the portfolio: Classic with a bright, softly polished finish, antique suitable for traditional interiors.
