The Macalister Mansion in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the George Town quarter in Penang is an extraordinary boutique hotel where modern design meets British tradition, and colonial past meets the present with Chinese, Indian and Malaysian influences. Named after the first British Governor of Penang, Sir Norman Macalister, the property built around 1900 is designed in the tradition of an old English mansion. For the renovation, care was taken to retain and renew the historical characteristics and original elements of the building. The historical pillars, stairways and archways were carefully restored and integrated into the new, fresh interior. The newly added, modern amenities and the contemporary design offer guests an imaginative and at the same time memorable experience.
Guests arrive in a spacy reception through an original, decorative entrance area under a canopy with a fish scale pattern. Despite the extensive site with different gastronomical facilities, the Macalister Mansion has only eight lavish guest rooms. Varying in size and orientation, every room is designed a little differently. This extends from custom works of art in the honeymoon suite and the spiral staircase that leads to the tower room, to particular material and colour combinations - the only commonality is the white colour design.
Technical amenities and design features, which have been integrated into the overall design, sometimes more, sometimes less hidden, improve the stay. The LS 990 range from JUNG contributes to the high level of equipment quality of the guest rooms. Integrated into the white, wooden wall panels or installed in the different pieces of furniture, the classic version in white was used. Whereas in the fine-dining restaurant, the guest lounge and the wine bar, the elegant version in aluminium lacquered in anthracite was used. Also through this attention to detail, the hotel sets itself apart from the local hotel scene.

LS 990 in white
Thanks to its high quality and clear shape, the LS 990 switch range has already proved its worth for about 50 years. The classic form of this switch with its narrow frame fits harmoniously into any surroundings. Purist elegance in thermosetting plastic or genuine metal lend this series a touch of class. A wide variety of applications are possible thanks to the wide functional spectrum. Thus, architecturally demanding visions can be consistently put into practice. Cool stainless steel, aluminium or attractive anthracite, chrome or precious gold plating – they lend a special touch wherever the emphasis is on the extra-special. Two variations of genuine brass complement the portfolio: Classic with a bright, softly polished finish, antique suitable for traditional interiors.
