Residential building in Vilnius | Lithuania
In Vilnius’s Old Town, two separate flats have been combined to form a single, cohesive living space. The design by Miglė Paškevičienė and Milda Saladūnaitė features an open-plan layout that combines fluid circulation with clearly defined private areas, bringing the different levels together to form a unified spatial whole.
The starting point for the reorganisation is a newly inserted mezzanine level. Two staircases, accessed from a shared central point, lead to the guest lounge and the workspace on the upper level, thereby structuring the sequence of spaces. Despite the complex roof geometry, the layout remains clearly legible. Generous openings and visual connections link the individual areas, whilst built-in elements precisely organise the functions and integrate them into the architecture.
The choice of materials and colours follows the principle of contrast. Light-coloured wall and ceiling surfaces provide a calm backdrop for art, furniture and sculptures. Exposed concrete, stainless steel and dark furniture elements provide deliberate accents, whilst individual mid-century pieces of furniture and striking light fittings lend the rooms their identity. A connecting corridor finished entirely in red serves as a deliberate counterpoint. As a spatially staged transition, it breaks up the understated material palette and links the individual living areas into a cohesive whole. The colour scheme also references the façades of the historic old town and continues the dialogue between interior and exterior spaces.
For the electrical installation, switches from the LS 990 series in light grey and stainless steel, as well as the LS 990 Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier® 4320A, are used. The different finishes blend seamlessly into the respective material and colour schemes of the rooms.

The cinnabar red. A fiery shade which catches the eye and reduces the space.
LS 990 in Stainless Steel
A prestigious interior derives its appeal from exclusive effects. The design switches in high-grade metal versions satisfy this standard outstandingly well. Cool stainless steel, aluminium or attractive anthracite, chrome or precious gold plating – they lend a special touch wherever the emphasis is on the extra-special. Two variations of genuine brass complement the portfolio: Classic with a bright, softly polished finish, antique suitable for traditional interiors.
LS 990 in light grey
The classic among the flat switches Thanks to its high quality and clear shape, the LS 990 switch range has already proved its worth for about 50 years. The classic form of this switch with its narrow frame fits harmoniously into any surroundings. Purist elegance in thermosetting plastic or genuine metal lend this series a touch of class. A wide variety of applications are possible thanks to the wide functional spectrum. Thus, architecturally demanding visions can be consistently put into practice. The single to fivefold frames can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
