nhow Hotel in the Tower ONE, Frankfurt am Main | Deutschland

After four years of building, the property company CA Immo Deutschland GmbH, who specialises in sustainable office properties, opened an imposing skyscraper on the Frankfurt skyline in September 2022 with ONE. The 190 metre high tower built according to plans by Meurer Architecture and urban planning contains a mix of office, hotel, co-working and gastronomy in a rental area of 68,000 m². The implementation planning and the integration of the hotel planning was carried out by Schmidt Plöcker architects. The new construction offers a variety of freely definable areas and with a skybar on the 47th floor also offers the highest publicly accessible bar in Germany.

ONE was developed as a Green Office Building that both satisfied the strict criteria of the EU taxonomy and the increasing demands of the tenants. The annual primary demand for energy lies around 34 % below the current legal requirements. The distinctive aluminium-element facade consists of a web-like 3D pattern of folded pilaster strips that provide sun protection with a micro-lamella design on the outside and achieves a particularly high shading effect. The entire building is equipped with digital meters and numerous sensors whose data on energy and resource consumption and air quality are processed centrally.

The access to the building is via a multifunctional lobby with reception area for hotel and offices. Cafe, cocktail bar and lounge are not only available to office tenants, co-workers and hotel guests but they are specifically aimed at external people in order to create an urban, jointly used location. With the hotel brand nhow, there is a 4-star design hotel with 375 hotel rooms, spa and meeting rooms on the first 14 floors. The special feature of the brand is that a tailored design is developed for each location. With "The Art of Money", the Spanish architect and interior designer Rafael de La-Hoz plays with the cliche of the banking city in ONE and surprises with a mix of colours, shapes and materials. In the hotel rooms, JUNG electric switches and sockets were used from the cleanly designed LS range. The LS 990 flat switch in white integrates uniformly into the many different backgrounds with patterns, colours and decors.

On the 15th and 16th floors and the 19th to 21st floors, around 650 co-working workplaces were created with a total area of 7,000 m². The floors above have been retained for classic office use. The skybar on the 47th floor is likewise operated by the hotel and offers alongside rooms with a ceiling height of eight metres, digital art and light design, above all an impressive panoramic view of the Frankfurt skyline.

The skyscraper has already won multiple awards and certifications – including for its outstanding digital infrastructure, its excellent office architecture and has also received the DGNB Green Building platinum certificate for sustainable building. Furthermore, as the first skyscraper worldwide, ONE achieved the DGNB diamond award for outstanding architecture and urban integration.

Thanks to its high quality and clear shape, the LS 990 switch range has already proved its worth for about 50 years. The classic form of this switch with its narrow frame fits harmoniously into any surroundings. Purist elegance in thermosetting plastic or genuine metal lend this series a touch of class. A wide variety of applications are possible thanks to the wide functional spectrum. Thus, architecturally demanding visions can be consistently put into practice. The single to fivefold frames can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
