WOMEN IN ARCHITECTURE | Our contribution to greater visibility
We were pleased to welcome our guests to the JUNG Architecture Talks in Berlin for the twelfth time. Held under the motto Women in Architecture, the event took place on 23 June 2025 at the Chamäleon Theater. We invited committed women from across the German architecture scene who are actively involved in initiatives for greater gender equality – and we are proud to support them!
Guests enjoyed a keynote lecture by Elisabeth Endres. She heads the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture at TU Braunschweig and is the curator of the German contribution STRESSTEST at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale. On stage we also welcomed architect and author Karin Hartmann. Her book Schwarzer Rolli, Hornbrille (Black Turtleneck, Horn-Rimmed Glasses) – a powerful call for more diversity in the German architecture landscape – became an industry bestseller in 2022. Last but not least, we met Natalie Bräuninger and Katja Domschky. Together, they initiated the mentoring programme planM, which aims to support and empower young female architects and planners on their path to leadership roles or self-employment.
The evening was moderated by Dr. Thomas Welter, Federal Managing Director of the BDA (Association of German Architects).

ELISABETH ENDRES
STRESSTEST
Elisabeth Endres studied architecture in Kaiserslautern and Munich and subsequently worked at the Technical University of Munich until 2018. Since 2013, she has been responsible at the engineering office Hausladen for the holistic conception of innovative projects at the interface between architecture and technical systems, and for their integration into building structures. In 2018, she was appointed to the firm’s executive management. In July 2019, she was appointed professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where she now heads the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture. In 2025, she curated the German contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale under the title Stresstest.

BLACK TURTLENECK, HORN-RIMMED GLASSES
Karin Hartmann is an architect and author. Her book Schwarzer Rolli, Hornbrille (Black Turtleneck, Horn-Rimmed Glasses) became an industry bestseller in 2022. She is chair of the career network architektinnen initiative nw and was a guest professor at the Technical University of Vienna in 2024. She writes the column #überarbeit for Die Architekt and is co-author of the anthology Unlearn Patriarchy #2.

Natalie Bräuninger and Katja Domschky have much in common: both architects now work in communications, engage in professional policy, and are passionate advocates for equal opportunities. Two years ago, they launched planM, Germany’s first mentoring programme for women in architecture and planning.
