Apartment for singles/short-term accommodation
Smart technology in a small space: in order to not do without modern building technology in a studio apartment, special KNX-participants are used. Instead of heating actuators in the distribution box, motor control valves set the temperature. The KNX F 10 push-button provides simple operation. Visit this smart apartment in virtual reality (VR) and take a look yourself.

Uniform operation with KNX
The JUNG KNX F 10 push-buttons look like classic light switches, but master intelligent KNX technology. Operation is very simple. They master both the button function and the rocker function. The rocker function for the Standard version allows additional control possibilities compared to the button function, such as dimming luminaires. The button function in the Universal version allows among other things full-surface operation. In this way, the KNX F 10 push-button combines numerous functions in an elegant design. With the KNX push-button Universal it is possible to connect external contacts or a KNX push-button extension to the rear connector. The KNX push-button Standard has one red status LED per rocker. With the KNX push-button Universal three different colours can be set that can also be adapted in brightness.
Kitchen
Die SCHUKO® socket with USB port fits into the selected switch design. With the integrated USB A port, or alternatively with an integrated USB C port, mobile end devices and batteries can be charged quickly and reliably. JUNG Quick Charge® carries out a handshake with the device and adapts the charging voltage to the electrical load. SCHUKO® sockets are also available with USB-A and USB-C ports as well as a USB charger with screwless design cover or hinged lid.
Naturally, if requested, sockets from other systems, such as French/Belgian or the Swiss system can also be installed. When using with a hinged lid, in many designs protection level IP44 can be achieved. The KNX push-button Universal 1-gang operates the indirect lighting under the wall cupboard. Depending on requirements, centre plates can be used with or without lens.
At the entrance to the kitchen, the two luminaires in the kitchen are operated with the KNX push-button Universal 2-gang and the ceiling light in the dining area with the KNX push-button extension 2-gang. Additionally, for example, two different scenes can be called.
Dining area
With the KNX room temperature controller with rotary knob and target-value adjustment, the desired temperature can be set intuitively. Discrete LEDs can display different operating states or parameters if required. With the KNX push-button Universal 2-gang, the ceiling lights and the basic lighting in the living room can be dimmed. With the KNX push-button extension 2-gang, the external blinds are moved in the living room and bedroom.
Living room
The exterior lighting on the balcony is operated with the large operating area on the KNX push-button Universal 1-gang. The switching state in the interior can also be seen with the lens. The printed rocker with arrow symbol can be recognised as the operating area for the external blinds. With the large number of possibilities for individualisation, other functions are also conceivable. In this way, for example, the LED in the KNX push-button Universal could light green to display the switching state of the exterior lamp. If the LED lights red on the other hand, it could signal a warning of a coming storm and the external blinds automatically move up. In addition, with the JUNG GRAPHICTOOL the centre plates can be individually labelled.
Bedroom
Where it makes sense, the 2-gang centre plates and the KNX push-button Universal 2-gang have been planned. In this way, it is possible to dim the ceiling light in the bedroom and the LEDs around the bed directly from the bed. The two rockers on the KNX push-button extension 2-gang operate both external blinds. In this way, the external blind in the living room can be operated very conveniently from the bed.
If this is not wanted, naturally a KNX push-button extension 1-gang on a KNX push-button Universal 2-gang can be used. The combination of 2-gang and 1-gang is possible. It must just be noted that only one KNX push-button Universal can be used with a KNX push-button extension. The use of the SCHUKO® socket with USB charger saves space during installation and still allows a 3-in-1 use of various devices. Here, a deep wall box must be provided. Identical to the operation at the bed, with the KNX push-button Universal 2-gang the ceiling lighting and the indirect LEDs around the bed can also be dimmed at this point.
The KNX push-button Universal 1-gang with the large operating area makes operation of the external blinds very easy. The rocker with arrow symbols makes the connection to the external blinds clear.
Bathroom
With the KNX room temperature controller with rotary knob and target-value adjustment, the desired temperature can be set intuitively. Discrete LEDs can display different operating states or parameters if required. If a local target temperature adjustment is not required, a KNX room autostat with push-button interface or a KNX CO2 multi-sensor can be used. The latter is often used combined with a fan or electrical window motors and provides help when, for example, there is high atmospheric humidity.
The automatic switch is commonly also called a motion detector. It detects the movement of heat when the room is entered and switches on the lighting automatically. With the KNX automatic switch Universal 1.10 m, comprehensive function blocks and limit values are available in the set-up. For simple applications, the KNX automatic switch Standard 1.10 m can be used.
The Smart Radio DAB+ provides the music: it receives both FM and DAB+ stations. In addition, your favourite music can be transferred to the radio with Bluetooth®. With the loudspeaker module, the great sound dynamic is optimised with bass reflex tubes. For unfavourable reception situations, a cable antenna can be connected at the back. If wanted, the radio can be switched on with the lighting using a satellite input. In larger rooms, up to two loudspeakers can be attached as a stereo pair, even at a distance from the radio.
The SCHUKO® socket with USB charger has integrated charging electronics. With the USB-A or USB-C connectors, common devices can also be charged while the SCHUKO® socket is in use as a 3-in-1 solution. For example, while showering, a smartphone can be charged while it plays your favourite music via the Smart Radio DAB+ Bluetooth®. The SCHUKO® socket with USB naturally also works with various electric toothbrushes or the electric Dry Box for hearing aids.
Hallway
With the KNX push-button Universal 2-gang, a rocker is used to operate the ceiling lighting in the hallway, and the adjacent rocker dims the indirect LED lighting in the fitted cupboard. In the lower installation box, a KNX push-button extension 2-gang is installed. Here on the left side, for example, scenes can be called and using the right side users can move all the blinds in the apartment. A scene involves directly calling a set situation. A typical scene can, for example, have the name "Absent": When called, all equipment is switched off, the blinds move to the lowest position and the temperature is reduced by two degrees. Another example is, for example, calling the "TV" scene: it moves the blinds to 70 percent, an indirect lighting dims to 25 percent and the SCHUKO® socket that the music system is connected to switches on. Scenes can be individually defined according to customer requirements.
With the video indoor station and the large video module, it is easy to see who is visiting. This gives more safety and convenience .Using the push-button module Standard or the push-button module Universal, various functions can be operated. As well as taking door calls, operating the door release or switching off the bell, there are more functions available.
Centre plates with lens are used on the KNX push-button Universal 2-gang. This makes it possible to see from the outside whether the lighting in the bathroom is switched on. A rocker switches on the ceiling light in the bathroom and another rocker dims the mirror lighting. The KNX push-button extension 2-gang operates the lighting in the hallway and in the fitted cupboard.
The SCHUKO® socket with integrated LED floor pilot light and enhanced contact protection can be used as a cleaner's socket. The brightness sensor switches the LED floor pilot light on at twilight so that orientation is possible in darkness.
General
In this apartment an installation with decentralised KNX actuators was consciously chosen. The devices can be attached on the profile rail in the distribution box in the hallway. Despite the relatively high number of switch/blinds and dimming groups for a studio apartment, there is only a small space requirement here with fewer than around two installation rows needed in the electrical distribution panel. This is made possible by the compact design of, for example, the KNX switch actuator 16-gang, where 16 independent 16-ampere relays are available on only eight rail units. For large applications, a KNX switch actuator 24-gang is also available. For dimming the various luminaires, depending on the type of light both a KNX DALI gateway TW or also a KNX LED dimming actuator Universal 4-gang can be used.
If larger loads are being dimmed, the KNX LED dimming actuator 1-gang can be used. Depending on load, the output channels of the KNX LED dimming actuator Universal 4-gang can be switched together. All devices in the above-mentioned product lines can be operated manually and have one feedback function per channel.
A KNX power supply with IP interface provides both the electrical power for the KNX technology as well as the connection to the network technology in a small space.
A KNX weather station home can determine the different physical values on the roof with its sensors and feed them into the KNX system. The KNX motor-operated valve drive in the heating circuit distributor fits onto the valve bases of popular manufacturers or is installed with a suitable adapter. In addition, it has an integrated room temperaturecontrol and works particularly quietly. With the valve protection function and the mechanical display of the valve lift, it offers control and safety functions.
If the resident, for example, wants to adjust their luminaires, external blinds and temperature with a mobile device, the JUNG Smart Visu Server can be used for this. Integrated in the local IP network, it serves the web visualisation of the KNX system. The resident can read the respective status, operate the functions or also set specific individual timer switches for each actuator channel. For example, the devices from Philips Hue and Sonos can be integrated. The integration of the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice services and the secure remote access are likewise possible via the MyJUNG account.
The bedrooms and the routes to the living areas are monitored with smoke alarm devices. The use of smoke alarm devices in the living room or other living spaces is not a requirement, but it is strongly recommended due to the accumulation of electrical devices and possibly the use of candles.
All design covers used in this apartment are from the A 550 range in the colour matt anthracite. They can be provided in other colours or also in other ranges and even in real metal – however you like.
With the SCHUKO® sockets, the use of the enhanced contact protection (shutter) should be obligatory. Products available on the market that are retrospectively attached in the socket and operated can under certain conditions lead to the termination of the type approval of the SCHUKO® socket and to increased fire danger.
