Freehold apartment for families
This two-bedroom apartment is captivating with its clear interior design and smart technology. The JUNG LS 990 and LS ZERO switch ranges in white and classic brass impart a high-quality and at the same time restrained look to the property. The requirement is to combine the comprehensive building technology with a particularly intuitive control system. As a result, throughout the apartment, every control unit has only one push-button module. View this KNX property here. Digitally, in virtual reality (VR).

Uniform operation with KNX
All the house functions and numerous multimedia functions can be networked together and controlled centrally with the intelligent KNX building system technology. The KNX F 50 push-buttons with large labelling areas can be used in 1, 2, 3 and 4-gang versions. Every button can, for example, switch a light on and off, make it brighter or dimmer, move blinds up and down or be set to call a scene. In use, buttons placed opposite each other are often used for the opposite function. In this way, the light can be switched on to the left and off to the right. A uniform operation should be chosen throughout the apartment.
Every KNX push-button consists of a KNX push-button module and the corresponding cover kit. With the KNX push-button module Standard, for each pair of buttons there is only one status LED available and with the KNX push-button module Universal there is one three-colour status LED per button. The push-button sensor Universal has comprehensive objects. It can, for example, record the temperature and send it to the KNX system, or it can be extended with a push-button extension module. The extension module can be installed up to 30 metres away. It can be easily connected to the KNX bus line with the yellow and white wires.
Every surface can be individually labelled with the JUNG GRAPHICTOOL. For this, the desired characteristics are simply saved in the online database and applied to the surface during the ordering process.

Living room
Where a wireless installation is needed, the KNX RF radio transmitter modules can be used. These are supplied with energy by a button cell and can be mounted anywhere using the included adhesive pad. Alternatively, the keyholes can also be used to attach to an installation box. If the button cell is nearly drained, regular blinking of the operating LED indicates the end of its life. There is naturally no loss of settings when changing the button cell. Radio transmission to the wired KNX system is with a KNX RF radio converter.
If the heating, air-conditioning or ventilation systems need it, magnet contacts on the window elements can indicate the status. To save energy, the supply can be switched off, to the air-conditioning unit for example, if a window or patio door is opened. In the same way, the magnet contact can implement, for example, a lock-out protection so that the blind is not moved down with the terrace door open and activated time function. The KNX push-button interface 2-gang or various binary inputs such as the KNX rotary sensor or KNX CO2 multi-sensor can be used for this purpose.
At this position, a KNX push-button module Universal 4-gang in classic brass design has been chosen. The buttons are used to operate the lighting in the kitchen and living area as well as for calling scenes. A "TV" scene could, for example, move the blinds down to a specific position, switch on the lights or dim to a particular lighting level.
For temperature control in the living and dining area, the temperatures recorded by the KNX push-button module Universal are sent to the KNX system and the KNX heating actuator 6-gang with controller or the KNX motor-operated valve drive regulates the desired temperature.
Terrace
Outdoors, SCHUKO® sockets with hinged lid with a sealing gasket in protection level IP44 splash-proof can be produced. In the complete LS 990 range, alongside the real metal aluminium used, other real metals and also other colours can also be installed in protection level IP44. A small flag on the lower edge of the frame identifies the protection against splashing in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Kitchen
The JUNG LS ZERO switch range is installed flush in the kitchen island and thus creates a smooth transition between socket and surface. The push-buttons used from the F 50 family are identical to the rest of the design. Mounting is very simple. An appropriate cutout is made by a carpenter and the required inserts are installed.
In order to be able to charge all electrical loads flexibly, one each of a SCHUKO® socket with USB charger type A and a SCHUKO® socket with USB charger type C are provided. Both sockets have integrated charging electronics, meet the highest standards and are VDE certified. The JUNG Quick Charge function in the SCHUKO® socket with USB charger provides electric power of up to 18 watt. With this, mobile end devices and batteries can be quickly and reliably charged.
The leak sensor on the kitchen cabinet can warn of water running out under the basin or washing machine. It is simply connected to the integrated push-button interface of the KNX CO2 multi-sensor. A KNX push-button interface 2-gang or a KNX push-button interface 4-gang can also be used.
The SCHUKO® sockets are installed with a hinged lid. This protects them from dirt in the working area. The hinged lid has a small spring so it closes automatically. These SCHUKO® sockets with hinged lid and many other items get protection level IP44 by using the sealing gasket.
Dining area
A clear operating panel can be installed at a central point. It provides visualisation and operation of system states in the building automation. The Smart Control 10 is fanless and has no moving parts. As a result, the device is completely silent.
The graphical interface is provided by the Smart Visu Server. It can be used to install on a DIN rail or on the wall. A visualisation is possible with current browsers on all mobile end devices and the above-mentioned JUNG panels.
The operation of lighting and calling scenes are implemented with the KNX push-button module Universal. Buttons for these can be set in such a way that the residents can save their individual settings with a long button press.
Hallway/entrance area
With the video indoor station and the video module, it is easy to see who is visiting. This increases security and adds convenience. Using the push-button module Standard or the push-button module Universal, various functions can be operated. As well as taking door calls, operating the door release or switching off the bell, there are more functions available.
With the KNX push-button module Universal 4-gang, the main lighting in the hallway can be switched on or off or dimmed and the complete shading of the apartment operated as a central function. The possibility is also created to call scenes, such as "Present" or "Absent" or "Everything off". Scenes provide the convenience of implementing multiple states with one operation. In this way, for example, with "Present" all the blinds go up, the desired welcome lighting switched on dimmed and the room temperature is increased by 2 degrees.
The KNX push-button module Universal 4-gang is used in classic brass. With this material, the push-button sensor fits particularly well into the wood look.
If wanted, the middle inscription field can be equipped with a design cover. In this way, all visible surfaces would have the identical colour and material. Using the JUNG GRAPHICTOOL, both buttons and design covers can be labelled. Depending on the material and colour, laser engraving and colour printing are available.
At every control unit throughout the apartment, only one push-button module was planned. Other functions beyond those assignments can be called using fixed panels and mobile devices. In this way, the complete installation has been reduced to the minimum.
The use of the SCHUKO® socket with USB charger saves space during installation and still allows simultaneous use of various devices. Here, a deep wall box must be provided. With a charging current of up to 3 ampere, all devices attached via USB are charged quickly and reliably. In this way, there is always a charged smartphone available when you leave the apartment.
Guest WC
The KNX presence detector Mini is installed on the ceiling. The presence detector recognises a person, dependent on heat movements and ambient brightness, and switches on the lighting. With its small dimensions, it is inconspicuous in the room and despite that also detects the smallest movements in its detection range with its fine resolution. If it is no longer registering movements, it switches off after the set shut-off delay.
Corridor
In the hallway, on the left and right there is a KNX automatic switch Universal 1.10 m installed. The automatic switch switches on the lighting if it detects movement depending on the brightness, and once the detection range is vacated switches it off again after the shut-off delay. If the installation situation requires it, the KNX automatic switch 2.20 m can also be used.
Dressing room
Due to the use of wall cupboards, a KNX presence detector Mini was mounted on the ceiling. The presence detector recognises a person arriving and switches on the lighting, depending on the heat movement and ambient brightness. With its small dimensions, it is inconspicuous in the room and despite that also detects the smallest movements in its detection range with its fine resolution. If it is no longer registering movements, it switches off after the set shut-off delay.
Bedroom
With the high-resolution display on the KNX visualisation through the SV server, the Smart Control 5 allows intuitive operation with the clear arrangement of the areas and functions/actions. In the areas, for example, different rooms can be selected. With the functions and actions, the individual equipment can be operated by tapping or by dragging a slider, e.g. for dimming. A clear orientation is possible due to the support of colour, for example. If the network structure has been appropriately designed, the Smart Control 5 can also be supplied with Power over Ethernet. Mounting is very simple. The supporting frame is simply fixed to a standard wall box. The automatic display brightness and the proximity sensor adapt the graphical interface to the environment.
With the Smart Gateway from Siedle, the door communication function can also be fulfilled on the device. Using the integrated loudspeaker and the microphone, you can communicate with the visitor while the picture from the camera is visible.
The lighting and both blinds are operated with the KNX push-button module Universal. Using the scene buttons, individual scenes can be called and, if appropriately set up, they can also be saved by the resident with a long press on the button. At the bed, a "Panic" scene is often used. This switches on the lighting in the entire apartment with one press of the button.
On one side of the bed, a KNX push-button module Universal has been installed, with a push-button extension module on the other side. The push-button extension module extends the push-button module by a further four push-button sensor without having to use the KNX topology for additional addressing. In order to be able to charge all electrical loads, on one side of the bed a SCHUKO® socket with type A charger is provided and on the other side a SCHUKO® socket with USB charger type C. The JUNG Quick Charge function adapts the charging voltage to the electrical load and charges with optimum output. In this way, the devices recharge quickly even in a short night.
Children's room
To be able to also set the set temperature individually directly at the location, a KNX compact room controller display module 4-gang is used. Alongside changing the set temperature, the operation mode can also be set here to "Present", "Absent" or "Night mode". The white backlight makes reading the values easier. If wanted, the brightness can be reduced.
For children, operation with the KNX rotary sensor was chosen. As expected, pressing switches on and off and rotating changes the brightness. Two status LEDs can be used with the centre plate with lens. The soft latching function gives the user haptic feedback when rotating.
GRAPHICTOOL, labelling is also possible in colour printing. In the online database, various images suitable for children are available. Alternatively, photos, logos or an extract from their favourite wallpaper can also be applied in an abrasion-resistant way onto various surfaces.
The SCHUKO® socket with integrated LED floor pilot light and enhanced contact protection can be used as a cleaner's socket. The brightness sensor switches the LED floor pilot light on at twilight so that orientation is possible even in windowless rooms in darkness.
Master bathroom
A KNX CO2 multi-sensor can measure the atmospheric humidity and temperature and switch on a fan. In this way, the formation of damp in closed rooms can be effectively prevented.

With its small dimensions, it is inconspicuous and despite that detects the smallest movements in its detection range with its fine resolution.
With a KNX push-button module Universal, lighting can be operated and scenes called. A "Wellness" scene could, for example, set the lighting to a dimmed value and switch on the Smart Radio DAB+ Bluetooth® via the satellite input.
Through the intelligent evaluation of telegrams from the KNX push-button module Universal 4-gang, the KNX presence detector Mini and a time function, various functions can be created. For example, after a defined time, the light for the movement detection no longer switches on with one hundred percent brightness, but only dimmed. This function can be added or called with the KNX push-button module.
The Smart Radio DAB+ provides the music: it receives both FM and DAB+ stations. In addition, your favourite music can be transferred to the radio with Bluetooth®. With the loudspeaker module, the great sound dynamic is optimised with bass reflex tubes. For unfavourable reception situations, a cable antenna can be connected at the back. If wanted, the radio can be switched on with the lighting using a satellite input. In larger rooms, up to two loudspeakers can be attached as a stereo pair, even at a distance from the radio.
The SCHUKO® socket with type A USB charger has integrated charging electronics allowing the recognition of popular mobile devices, and the JUNG Quick Charge function can supply an output of up to 9 volt and 18 watt. With the VDE symbol and the "Safety Plus" equipment, hidden as a shutter behind the design cover, safe operation is possible even in the bathroom. A deep wall box is required for proper mounting. SCHUKO® sockets with USB charger types A+C as well as a USB charger with screwless design cover or hinged lid are also available.
Naturally, if requested, sockets from other systems, such as French/Belgian or the Swiss system, can also be installed. When using a hinged lid, in many designs protection level IP44 is also available.
General
The bedrooms and the routes to the living areas are monitored with wireless smoke alarm devices. The use of smoke alarm devices in the living room or other living spaces is not a requirement, but it is strongly recommended due to the accumulation of electrical devices and possibly the use of candles. In large apartments and where there are potentially closed room doors, the alarm can be passed on to other radio smoke alarm devices. With the alarm relay with floating contact input, the smoke alarm can be passed to the KNX system using a KNX push-button interface. As a result, for example, all lighting could be switched on with maximum brightness in order to adequately illuminate escape routes at night. At the floating contact input, a push-button could be connected for triggering manually.
With the SCHUKO® sockets, the use of "Safety Plus" should be obligatory. This shutter is integrated inconspicuously in the centre plate and offers secure protection.
In this apartment, an installation with decentralised KNX actuators was consciously chosen. The devices can be attached on the profile rail in the distribution box in the hallway. The use of the compact design of, for example, the KNX switch actuator 24-gang, which is fitted with 24 independent, 16 ampere relays with only 12 rail units, saves valuable installation space. For smaller applications, a KNX switch actuator 16-gang or KNX switch actuator 6-gang can be used.
For dimming the various luminaires, depending on the type of light both a KNX DALI gateway TW or also a KNX LED-dimming actuator Universal 4-gang can be used. If larger loads need to be dimmed, the KNX LED dimming actuator 1-gang can be used or, depending on load, the output channels of the KNX LED dimming actuator Universal 4-gang can be switched together. All devices in the above-mentioned product lines can be operated manually and have one feedback function per channel. If different lines or areas are built, a KNX area / line coupler must be used. It ensures an electrical isolation of the lines, filters telegrams and keeps the load on the bus low. A KNX power supply with IP interface provides both the electrical power for the KNX technology as well as the connection to the network technology in a small space.
The KNX motor-operated valve drive in the heating circuit distributor fits onto the valve bases of popular manufacturers or is installed with a suitable adapter. In addition, it has an integrated room thermostat and works particularly quietly. With the valve protection function and the mechanical display of the valve lift, it offers control and safety functions.
A KNX weather station Universal mounted on the roof serves to measure and evaluate weather data: wind speed, wind direction, precipitation, brightness, global radiation, twilight, temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure. With the integrated GPS/GLONAS receiver, manual geolocation is unnecessary. The weather station is used for controlling shade, recording values and monitoring threshold values.
The Smart Visu Server serves two important areas. The graphical interface can be defined and set up with SV Control. It is operated with SV Home. With user management, the various users can be allocated individual rights. Integrated in the local IP network, it serves the complete web visualisation of the KNX system. The residents can read the status, operate the system and set completely individual timer switches for each actuator channel. In addition, systems from Philips Hue and Sonos, for example, can be integrated. The integration of the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice services and the secure remote access are likewise possible via the myJUNG account.
