History - progress as tradition

The JUNG story can be told in both directions: it is a story of yesterday and tomorrow. Of tradition and progress. Of people and visions. And of great passion. The two aspects, both preserving traditions and values as well as investment in research and sustainable technologies, are deeply rooted elements of the company DNA. That is connected primarily with the self-image of the founding family, for more than three generations now.

1912. Ingenuity has a future.

Near to the current location in Schalksmühle, Albrecht Jung founds a small business in 1912. The focus is the production of his current patent pending invention: the pull cord switch with 1/8 rotation. The technical innovation is a particularly short actuation path - a principle that still forms the basis of all the company's switch designs today. "My grandfather", says Harald Jung, today's chair of the supervisory board, "was employed as a master craftsman at a company in Schalksmühle. He had many good ideas for innovations, but they fell on deaf ears there. As a result, he initially rented some cellar rooms and became self-employed in order to turn his ideas into reality.“ The courage to take risks pays off: together with his later partner, Ernst Paris, Albrecht Jung quickly leads the company to business success. Only a few years later, Albrecht Jung buys an old school building and a nearby greenhouse that is converted into a temporary production facility in 1919. The first JUNG factory building is then built in Schalksmühle in 1927/1928. Albrecht Jung and Ernst Paris also lead the company together through two world wars and the subsequent post-war years.

1960. The dawn of a new age.

At the beginning of the 1960s, the second generation took over the helm with Siegfried Jung. A few years later, in 1967, his friend Theodor Schulte strengthened the management by adding a sales department. Together the two new men at the top further extended the market success of the family-run company. As well as a high standard of quality, the design factor became increasingly important. As early as the 1960s, the company presented a push-switch that complemented the tilting and rotary models previously in use. With the development of the first range with maximum switch area, JUNG definitively set new standards in functionality, design and user convenience. The LS 990 switch range, launched on the market in 1968, is today one of the timeless classics among the switch ranges.

1993. The third generation.

The company is managed in the 3rd generation by Harald Jung from 1993. As the managing shareholder, he leads the areas of marketing and sales. He is initially supported by Heinz-Jürgen Kuhn and Malte Vinck, before Michael Eyrich and Martin Herms join the company management. The new management also bases their work on the guiding principle that has guaranteed market success until now: progress as a tradition.

2020. Establishment of the supervisory board.

Harald Jung has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board since March 2020. The management of JUNG is in the hands of Thomas Fischl, Managing Director for Sales and Marketing since 2024, Martin Herms, who has been responsible for Innovation and Operations since 2007, and Nikolas Schwarzelmüller-Krumbach, responsible for Commercial Operations since 2025.
Since it was founded, JUNG has continuously grown and has been a leader in the enormous development in electronics. Each further development of the range has expanded the business segment - from light switches to blind control, security systems, sensors, radio and KNX to energy monitoring. Today, with over 1700 employees, 21 subsidiaries and agencies in around 80 countries worldwide, JUNG is one of the leading medium-sized companies in the electrical industry in Germany.
