Automating in line with the EPBD – simply and efficiently
Energy saving and sustainability are becoming increasingly important. With the EU’s ‘Energy Performance of Buildings Directive’ (EPBD), the European Commission now aims to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. This is precisely where the collaboration between Signify and JUNG comes in: their joint solution combines the Signify Interact lighting management system with the smart room thermostats from the JUNG HOME control system. The seamless integration of both platforms enables holistic control of lighting and indoor climate, thereby fulfilling a key requirement of the EPBD.

New standards for building emissions

By 2028
All non-residential buildings with a rated HVAC capacity of >290 kilowatts:
Operators are obliged to install a lighting control system with interfaces for data exchange.
From 2028
All non-residential buildings with a rated HVAC capacity of >70 kilowatts
Operators are required to install, by 2030, a lighting control system with interfaces for data exchange and, in addition, a smart building control system.

All newly constructed buildings must meet the standard for a zero-emission building

The solution – how it works:

Lighting by Signify
Efficient and smart LED lighting from Signify – such as the Philips TrueLine office luminaire – is available with both integrated and external sensors from Signify Interact. This enables the system to detect daylight and movement, adjust the lighting accordingly and save energy.
Communication with the thermostat
Signify lighting and the JUNG room thermostat use sensor data to adjust the lighting and temperature. This enables energy savings, for example, through the use of natural light and automated functions such as switching between comfort temperature and ECO mode based on occupancy.
JUNG HOME Room Thermostat
The smart JUNG HOME room thermostat controls the room temperature according to individual schedules or based on sensor data. Precise heating and an automatic reduction in the target temperature in rooms that are not in use help to save energy.
