The apartment is located next to the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia. The system behind the project is based on the idea of building a lacquered, wooden-clad, groove-panelled blue box in the middle of the floor plan to architecturally shape and newly define its surrounding rooms.

The outer surfaces of the blue box hide a wardrobe, cloakroom and doors to the bathroom on the bright hallway side. They also become kitchen and living room cupboards at both ends. The bathroom is located within the box and is given a warm pink décor to contrast its cold outer sides. The floor of this area is covered in square grey tiles that also form a high walled side-panel for the bathtub. The living area is designed with a free-standing cooking island which also serves as a comfortable table. The airy and bright living and kitchen space benefits from the light of a large French window.

All the intermediate ceilings were removed and Catalonian vaults were revealed and painted in a warm white. The neutral walls draw attention to the lacquered blue box which then contrasts with coral-coloured beams. The same shade of coral is used for the custom-built, curved bathroom cupboard. On the balcony the door for the cleaning equipment is painted in coral and the same colour reappears on the traditional “rasilla” terracotta tiles. The idea for the furnishing is a reflection of the same design principles and mixes luxury furniture with vintage items.

To provide a contrast to the whole design concept, our JUNG LS 990 design classic was installed in aluminium and anthracite.
