Focus Hangzhou apartment complex, Hangzhou | China

The new Focus Hangzhou apartment complex in the Chinese city of Hangzhou with over a million inhabitants covers around 340,000 square metres, distributed over five towers in total. The ensemble offers an incomparable backdrop with its view of the river and its link with the sky. Together with the Hangzhou-Bogen among the seven "Big Dipper" towers, it forms a new iconic building complex. The tower blocks shaped like sails in the wind on the river bank light up every evening and also make Focus Hangzhou a landmark in the evening. 

The fascinating view of the river, the wavelike building silhouettes and curved shapes are sources of inspiration for the interior design. Open layouts break through the boundaries, remove the visual barrier between the different uses such as the foyer, living room and study and link aesthetics with formality. The room-high glazing enables a 270 degree view of the outside world, which gradually evolves like a panorama. For the interior designer Zheng Zhong from Cheng Chung Design, the "empty" room expresses the concept of Oriental aesthetics: "creating something out of nothing". The real and the virtual are mixed into a fascinating production. The room becomes a stage on which people as dancers create dynamics and rhythm. The flowing of the turbulent water in front of the panoramic window changes the room into a larger, integral entity. Ju Bin, founder of Horizontal Design, also takes his inspiration from nature, as shown in the selection of materials and the colour scheme. Both designs create a luxurious and elegant room with an emotional experience at the heart of this residential complex.

Both LS 990 and LS ZERO from JUNG in antique brass were used in the building and the intelligent KNX system from JUNG installed. Day and night, the intelligent KNX system produces different moods. When switching to the required mode, the main light is dimmed, the curtains are slowly drawn and the infinite splendour of the Qiantang river outside slowly becomes visible. At dusk, the enchanting view of the Qiantang river is also reflected in the interior: when it's time for relaxation mode, the light goes on and music plays to create an atmosphere and emotional resonance. At the same time the intelligent system from JUNG can be combined with voice control to make life at home even more convenient.
