A riot of colour for a DJ, Paris | France

Do musicians have other living needs? This question cannot be generalised, but for the French DJ, musician and music producer MYD, it does apply. The architect Anthony Authié from Zyva Studio transformed a small apart in Paris only 45 m² in size for him into a colourful complete work of art.  

The road where the apartment is located is characterised by the buildings of Hausmann, who characterised the French capital in the long term and is still the symbol of the modern city of the 19th century. This is where Anthony Authié began. As a homage to the unique temperament and the eccentric character of the DJ, the architect mixes various facets of his personality into a new style: "Electraussmannien", a dynamic mix of styles, genres and epochs.

In the process, the architect retained the defining elements of the style of the building from the 1930s such as cornices, skirting boards, stucco ceilings and parquet floors as well as the existing ground plan. The design is playful, using specifically made fixtures with pop influences, flowing lines and arches. The enjoyment of the process can also be seen in the selected elements from various epochs: the design language based on the 1960s, the custom-made table in pink and green terrazzo with inspirations from the 1980s, or the explosion of bright and optimistic colours direct from the 1990s. The result is an expressionistic interior. But Anthony Authié goes a step further and bathes the individual rooms in bright explosions of colour. Pink for the dining area, sunny yellow for the bedroom and bathroom and a light blue for the rest of the home. The switches and sockets from the LS 990 range from JUNG on the differing surfaces are also no interference but integrate into the overall picture in the colour nuances 4320N bleu céruléen 59 and 4320W le jaune vif from the Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier.

With an experimental style from playful elements and intentionally kitsch components, the architect breaks humorously with convention and creates worlds for living where you ask yourself whether they are actually real and liveable. But what also happens is that the space tells a new story that makes you want more.
