Two-bedroom apartment with an 80s look
Design in a small space. In a new high-rise building in the Ukrainian capital, architect Galina Nikulina has created a special interplay of colours: a touch of the legendary Memphis design of the 1980s, translated to a contemporary interior concept. For the new resident, the room plan was also a focus. In contrast to what is currently widespread, the couple wanted a clear separation of living and eating areas. Studio Galina Nikulina were able to implement this even in a small space. What arose is a functional, comfortable and unique living space.
It found its origin in the Memphis design in Italy: In 1980 a designer group around Michele de Lucchi and Ettore Sottsass founded the collective of the same name. Playful, colourful, curved – that is how many of the designs that arose can be characterised. The apartment in Kyiv is also characterised by the influence of the Memphis design. Alongside the rounded design language and the individual colour combinations, artworks from the young Ukrainian artists Polina Moroz and Nikita Vlasov complete the overall picture.
The apartment was equipped with LS 990 in anthracite, white and the Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier 32102 Rose Clair from JUNG.

LS 990 in white
Thanks to its high quality and clear shape, the LS 990 switch range has already proved its worth for about 50 years. The classic form of this switch with its narrow frame fits harmoniously into any surroundings. Purist elegance in thermosetting plastic or genuine metal lend this series a touch of class. A wide variety of applications are possible thanks to the wide functional spectrum. Thus, architecturally demanding visions can be consistently put into practice. The single to fivefold frames can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
LS 990 in Anthracite
The design switches in high-grade metal versions satisfy this standard outstandingly well. Cool stainless steel, aluminium or attractive anthracite, chrome or precious gold plating – they lend a special touch wherever the emphasis is on the extra-special. Two variations of genuine brass complement the portfolio: Classic with a bright, softly polished finish, antique suitable for traditional interiors.
