Effective germ prevention and defense

For places with a high human traffic, the risk of infection due to bacteria, viruses and other germs will be correspondingly high. To combat this, we have newly released products made with SILVERPLUS® material technology that can help to reduce the risk.
With antimicrobial surfaces for light switches, sockets, motion detectors and building control products, we offer professional solutions from our electrical installation range that effectively complement strict hygiene requirements for buildings in the healthcare sector, such as hospitals.

How SILVERPLUS® works

SILVERPLUS® is a material surface that is independent of the type, function or form of our products. It is neither a paint nor a coating, and this material technology does not wear off, cannot be washed out and does not deteriorate. A simulation in a laboratory proved an effectiveness for at least 15 years.
The SILVERPLUS® material technology is based on silver ions (Ag+), which are emitted from the SILVERPLUS® surface and counteract bacteria and pathogens in different ways.
  • has an antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral effect
  • acts against bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Acinetobacter baumannii)
  • reduces the bacterial load on surfaces within 24 hours by over 99.99 % (> 4 log steps)
  • reduces the viral load on surfaces
  • effective against enveloped viruses (such as the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2)

  • prevents and disrupts the growth of fungi
  • continuously effective (24/7)
  • does not contain any chemical biocides
  • is odourless
  • works independently of light

The SILVERPLUS® operating principle

Reacting with the Ag+ ions on the exterior of a pathogen, the latter's adherence on the product surface is reduced while its envelope surface's permeability is increased. This impairs the conditions of pathogens for growth and reproduction.
Ag+ ions disrupt protein-based mechanisms of microorganisms that aid in the signal processing and matter transfer (metabolic process) of its outer layer. In the process, Ag+ ions react particularly with sulphurous components of amino acids, which are components of important proteins (enzymes). As a result of these reactions, the proteins that are vital for the micro-organisms are deactivated and denatured.
In addition, silver ions can also damage the bacteria internally. In particular, the Ag+ ions react with the DNA of the germ, which impedes microorganisms from reproduction and multiplication.

Tested technology

Apart from bacteria, the SILVERPLUS® surface is also effective against mould and enveloped viruses. In laboratory tests performed with four different bacteria and fungi as well as an enveloped virus, experts from independent testing institutes established that the antimicrobial surface proactively inhibits the growth and reproduction of the test germs and significantly reduces the number of pathogens.

LS 990 with SILVERPLUS®

The LS 990 range has a captivating geometric form, and in combination with the new SILVERPLUS® material technology, even hygiene-sensitive areas can enjoy high-quality design without compromising on strict requirements. The LS 990 is also resistant to cleaning agents and disinfectants. Products from this range with SILVERPLUS® material technology are available in white.

Operation without hand contact

Greater hygiene can be achieved with hands-free switches. For this, we offer elbow-operated switches and automatic switches, such as motion and presence detectors, as alternatives. Motion detectors can be installed in frequented areas such as corridors, stairwells and communal areas, providing additional hygiene by reducing the number of contact points people interact with.
Elbow-operated switches
The hands-free operation of doors with elbow-operated switches eliminates a significant risk of infection as hands accumulate more microbes than elbows. Our elbow-operated switches in robust stainless steel add to the hygiene requirement, and allow for fast and simple operation in passing with their large switch areas.
Motion detector
The 180° detection range of our motion detector is monitored by two sensors that can be used individually or together. As such, very small rooms, washrooms or stairways can be optimally covered.
Presence detectors
Ceiling detectors / presence detectors are particularly suited for installation in larger public buildings. They are protected by the safe installation height, and have a 360° detection range with three sensors that can be used individually or together.

Automatic switching

Protection against infection has also become more important in smaller offices and commercial buildings as well as in the private residential sector. The JUNG HOME and the LB Management offer simple solutions for contact-free building control.

Smart building technology

Lighting, shading, temperature, ventilation – our intelligent technology automatically interlinks all the key functions within the building. This reduces contact with switches, operating elements or door handles to a minimum, and helps to effectively reduce the risk of infection through contact.
Lighting
Automatic, demand-controlled and secure: wherever intelligent building controls the lighting, the risk of infection through contact is reduced.
Shading
The automatic control of blinds and shutters including louvre adjustment regulates solar radiation. The control is performed centrally or decentralised.
Room climate
Demand-based control of heating, ventilation and air conditioning ensures the optimum temperature for individual's well-being and a healthy room climate.
Astro function
More light in the autumn and winter as well as more shade on hot days - the technology operates functions dependent on the position of the sun reliably and contact-free.
Multimedia
TV, entertainment systems and multimedia components can be integrated in the smart home system for the entire building.
Visualisation
Display and operate all the functions via touch displays such as smartphones and tablets even when you are on the move. Unnecessary contact with surfaces is avoided through central control.

Voice command instead of switching

Activate and dim the lighting, switch devices and sockets, call up scenes, operate blinds and shutters - all these with voice commands through our intelligent building systems, giving contact-free control. The smart system is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and with the Google Assistant.
Viruses, bacteria and fungi are most frequently transferred via the hands. As light switches are often touched, we have been running special ranges for hygiene-sensitive areas for many years to combat the higher risk of infection.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the topic of hygiene in public buildings has become increasingly important. As such, we have further developed the area of hygiene-sensitive electrical installation. In the production of light switches, sockets, push-buttons and further components, we have started using SILVERPLUS® with added silver ions. They disrupt the necessary biochemical processes of the pathogens and thus inhibit their reproduction, reducing the bacterial load on surfaces.
